Nuclear Energy on the Way

This past week marked the first time an application to build a new nuclear power plant in 30 years. Nuclear prospectors feel that this is the answer to global warming as nuclear energy produces virtually no greenhouse gases. In fact, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission expects up to 28 applications for new nuclear power plants in the next 15 months which can cost up to $90 billion.

The reasons why investors have stepped up to the plate and started with the building plans is because the government has stepped in and guaranteed against loan defaults. Otherwise these types of investments are considered financially risky. Some people are very speculative however, that even if all these projects get built in a speedy manner that it would be enough to slow global warming by 2050.

With the aid of the government, these projects can get off the ground in building new nuclear power plants that can jump start the energy market once again.
