Bank of America bails Countrywide

Countrywide home loans fell into a bit of a crunch due to all the loans people were defaulting on almost driving the company to bankruptcy. But thanks to the government stepping in and Bank of America...Countrywide still stands. Although this is a grave time in terms of the real estate market, because now most likely it will be harder to obtain credit to buy a home. I for one am very disappointed in this, as I was hoping to buy a home in the next year or so. However, I am still confident that this industry will turn around. Watch this short clip on how Bank of America bails out Countrywide.

Toy Recall casts Doubt on products Made In China

China has been getting a lot rap lately from all the products that have been getting recalled from China during the last few months. There have incidents with pet food, toothpaste, clothing, and now toys. I mean come on, why is this all coming out now? and how long has this been a problem for? Have we been subject to these toxic chemicals all along and now that our awareness has raised concern over products coming from China that we are just noticing more and more problems that have been there all along? This is causing quite a stir among the common folk of everyday lives. Here in my office, my co-workers randomly talk about how they wont support products made in China any longer. I don't think that I want to either. But who else is there in the world to produce the amount of things we buy from China at cheap prices. Half of the things in WalMart come from China...can you really resist not boycotting WalMart? What other choices are there? Some articles that are out there claim that people are using the all the bad products coming from China as a reason to scream protectionism...which may be true to some degree...however, the record China has cannot be ignored and unless we can see some clear changes done with the management of goods that get shipped to the US...then peoples confidence in products made from China could be tainted for a while to come. Especially when we keep hearing more and more news stories every week about a new item that we should all be worried about.

Avoid solutions like credit card consolidation. Becoming solvent involves tedious tasks like managing your credit card sensibly. Whether it is capital one card or your citicard, that is of secondary importance.

Cyber Traders Meet by the Blog

With the growth of online communities such as Myspace and Youtube, peer to peer based communities in the online world have grown too. Usually these online brokerage communities comes along without the brokerage elements. However, there are new sites out there aimed at capturing a market for those who wish to have a community based on people with similar interests and have access to a full fledged online brokerage firm. One of these sites include one that is called Zecco.com. It actually is quite appealing even to the non traditional trader.

With features boasted on the main page: Zero dollar trade commissions and zero dollar minimum balance. That’s right. The price war is over. You won. You can make up to 10 trades in any one day up to a total of 40 trades a month at no cost, and after that you only have to pay a paltry $3.50 per stock trade. Option trades only cost $3.50 plus $.60 a contract.

What a steal of a deal...this website puts E-trade and even Sharebuilder and Scottrade to shame. So check out the video and learn a little more about the new and exciting features in the online trading world.

Hurricane Dean and impact on Oil Prices

The impact of hurricane Dean on oil prices have been wishy washy. Many people fear price hikes of oil and food in the foreseeable future but what do the anaylsts have to say about it:

Mexico’s state owned oil company, Pemex, has shut in about 3% of total world oil production as Hurricane Dean impacts production, which should lead oil prices higher.

The 407 wells shut-in by Pemex produce 2.65 million barrels of crude oil and 2.63 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day, while U.S. production from the Gulf of Mexico is roughly 1.3 million (crude) and 7.7 billion (natural gas).

These shutdowns will inevitably have some impact on the price of oil which is really a disappointment considering that the prices of gasoline at the pump have been fairly low. I surely hope that the prices do not go right back up to where they were. If they do, however, it should be reason enough for the government to push for alternative oil solutions and really get the ball rolling. People will become very upset if they see gas prices at the $3.50 range again.

I suppose the only thing we can do is wait and see what the outcome of this event will be. I for one am not happy about this hurricane as I am sure no one else is. Hopefully there will not be any more category 5 hurricanes for the rest of the hurricane season but who knows.

Compact Disc Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Back in 1982, was when the first compact disc or CD rolled off the assembly line in Germany. The 25th anniversary was marked on August 17th, (three days ago). I absolutely can't wrap my mind around it. It seems like CD's have been around forever, but it surprises me that they are still around. In this day of digital downloads and i-pods, surely the compact disc will not survive another 25 years. Heck they won't even be put in cars anymore, perhaps all that will come with your new vehicle in ten years will be new High Definition formatted discs or perhaps just an mp3 hookup with a possible USB 2.0 hook up. Who knows what the future will hold, perhaps a bio chip underneath our skin that will have a wireless bluetooth with our playlists on it that will automatically be detected by our future smart cars.

Either way please view the video as it certainly is very interesting. Also if you like the video please feel free to hit the Green Mash button and embed the video onto your blog or website if you have one for free. Also please feel free to drop a line or comment if you liked this post.

Nissan Adds Safety Features

Nissan has delivered an sweet new safety feature to one of its vehicles that will measure your alcohol levels through your sweat to determine if you are able to drive the vehicle or not. Also it will have advanced crash protection systems in place that could help save your life in the event of an eminent fatal crash. Ideas like this should have been in place long ago.

In my opinion, a system that can detect alcohol levels through the sweat gland system...if implemented into a million cars could have saved countless lives and also spared countless of dollars in damage. If this system proves to be effective I would even go as far as saying that a system such as this should be put into every new vehicle and have it mandated by law. Perhaps in due time a law like this will come around...as I am sure the Mothers Against Drunk Driving group would advocate for something like this. Maybe I'll shoot them an email and see if they go for the idea and report back to this blog. Either way, once could only hope that this system will fare well and save lives. Go technology :)

Price of Milk at all Time High

According to CNN, the price of milk per gallon is at $3.80, the highest it has ever been. Apparently it's up 50 cents or so since February. This does hit families hard, especially those with particularly large families who consume a lot of milk. I personally am lactose intolerant and I am glad because I don't even like the taste of milk. I think it's gross. I much prefer the taste of organic rice milk or organic soy milk. Its much safer knowing that the milk I drink comes from organic vegetables rather than from a cow injected with steroids, artificial growth hormones, and antibiotics. I largely think this price hike is due to Monsanto corporation losing profits from people switching to organic milk or milk producer's that display the label "no-rBGH" to insinuate that there milk is healthier...well it's because it is. I believe Monsanto is the driving force of this market here and I cant wait to hear other people's opinion about it. So lets hear it...anything you readers have to say about this? Please comment.

Fox News Attacks Bloggers

Well this isn't surprising information...I have known that certain political figures have been bashed on the Internet through the blogoshere. I think the main reason why the government and prominent political figures hate bloggers is because they expose information that major media networks don't cover. Information that goes through the blogosphere literally spreads like wildfire. This would go against an agenda of misinforming people and brainwashing people to believe certain things through the news people watch on tv everyday. If anything this is the chance bloggers have to step up to the plate and show that they won't back down and to show that they will continue doing their duty.

As far as the very last comment made by the Bill O Reily at the end of the film...Dont you know about the coming Revolution?...inform yourself.
